Breve Cafe & Bar is a new cafe located along the Murray St Mall, next to Gelares. I stumbled across this place whilst walking in the city one day and decided to go there as we ran out of ideas on where to eat and the place looked pretty decent from the outside – open air, clean and modern looking with nice lights. I was also attracted by the cafe’s bright red sign with its black and white lettering. The cafe has an alfresco area which is a great idea as you can really feel the city bustle sitting out there but it was too hot that day so we opted to sit inside.
We surveyed the menu with its lunch special written on a board placed outside – food sounded appealing and price reasonable..a winner! Going in, we found that there were more food available and they were all written on the side wall which made it really easy to read.
As usual, it took us ages to decide what we wanted, but we finally ordered the following:
- Beef Burger – $11.90
- Home-made Lasagne – $13.90
The beef burger came as a beef patty in a toasted bun, with juicy fried onions, salad, Breve’s mayo, tomato sauce and more importantly served with chips and a packet of tomato sauce. A great deal. I had the home-made lasagne which came with chips, sauce and salad with dressing. It tasted fresh, filled with mince beef and the serving was just right and not too heavy (otherwise I might fall asleep when I get back to work). The chips were crunchy too and the salad added a healthy twist. A great meal overall.
The waitress that served us was really friendly and the food came out quick. I would definitely go back to try some of their other food next time.
