Sayers Food is a very trendy and classy cafe situated off the busy streets of Leederville on Carr Place. Its interior is decorated tastefully, with matching colours decor, comfortable couches and cushions and a grainy central dining table. It is tiny in size though which explains why they do not take weekend booking. I found out about this place through a friend’s recommendation and think it’s an absolute gem.
The cafe has a fantastic atmosphere and is the perfect place for breakfast on an early Saturday morning. They have an extensive breakfast and drinks menu which made ordering a difficult task.
We decided at the end on Iced Coffees for drinks and the following two dishes for breakkie:
* Turkish bread crostini, herb & feta crusted field mushroom, crushed potato cake, bacon, poached eggs and spicy red pepper relish
* Full breakfast of poached eggs, potato cake, 3 beans, grilled tomato, field mushroom, italian sausage and bacon
The food like the place, is an absolute delight. They were presented appealingly and tasted fresh and original. I loved the tiny Turkish bread crostini that came with my meal and also the large field mushroom. The iced coffee was also very nice surprisingly (it’s hard to find a cafe that serves nice iced coffee!). I found out later through the net that they use a special coffee bean called 5 senses from Papua New Guinea. It makes me want to try their actual coffee now (I did try to go back one evening but they were closed!). Prices were also quite reasonable, ranging from $14 – $20 depending on what you order.
Sayers also serves food displayed in a glass cabinet next to the counter – a selection of sweet and savoury slices and cakes. It made our mouth watered when we saw the display but we were too full this time round to try them. Another thing I thought was quite cute is that they provide FREE JELLY BEANS! The big jar of jelly beans is located next to glass station (perfect for the sweet tooth out there).
Needless to say, I was very impressed by this cafe and think it’s fantastic. I can’t wait to go and try their lunch/dinner menu and their much talked about coffee!
