Barrett’s Bread, Nedlands

Website: http://www.barrettsbakery.com

For my job last year, I was mostly working in Nedlands in the last few months and managed to visit some of the eateries in the area. It was almost like reliving my university days except for the many more choices available now compared to before! My next few entries will be of some of the restaurants, cafes and bakeries I visited in Nedlands! 🙂

The first cafe I noticed whilst driving along Stirling Highway was Barrett’s Bread on Broadway, a few shops away from the Caltex Petrol Station. I was so excited that the cafe was still there! It was one of my favourite patisserie from almost a decade ago! I remembered the yummy almond croissant I used to buy back in those days! Couldn’t resist making a breakfast stop for it one morning! I noticed that they had renovated the place, it looks much more modern than what I remembered.

Almond Croissant

The Almond Croissant was still as delicious as before! Crispy crust with soft almond filling inside, topped with almond flakes. Loved it! I went back for more in the following few weeks and even tempted our doc controller to get some!

Barrett’s Bread was also a place I went to for coffee with my colleague during our break. The pastries and cakes are great for snacking!

They also sell full cakes at reasonable prices.  I bought this Baked Cheesecake for a friend’s birthday for approx $31 – everybody loved it!

I even recommended Barrett’s as the place to go to when the admin girl wanted to buy a cake for our project manager’s birthday! Haha I had an ulterior motive of wanting to try more of their cakes, so I sent her Barrett’s way :p This was a piece of the whole Pear Flan she bought (I hope I have remembered the name of this cake correctly).

Besides sweet stuff, Barrett’s also sells gourmet sandwiches and hot food.  Too bad I didn’t get to try them, will definitely be back if I’m in the area!
