I first heard of John St Cafe from my ex-colleague who told me of a nice little cafe they visited on the weekend for breakfast. Having not been to Cottesloe for awhile now I decided to pay the cafe a visit for breakfast with my parents one weekend.
John St Cafe is located in a residential street, off the main strip leading to the Cottesloe beach. The place was buzzing when I arrived and I got the last street parking right outside the cafe. Blessed me! The inside is airy and sunny, and has a nice laid back and beachy vibe to it, perfect for a hot summer’s day!
We had some coffees to start with – Cappucino ($3), Hot Chocolate ($4.70) and Latte ($4.20). The coffee was quite nice!
For breakfast, we had:
- Breakfast Bagel ($16.70) – bacon, avocado, snowpea sprouts & cream cheese
Bagel seems to be the rave at the moment so I couldn’t resist ordering this for my breakkie. I loved the huge chunk of avocado on the bagel and the thick spread of cream cheese on both sides. Everything was piled on so it was a bit of a deconstructing process as I ate it. It was a yummy dish overall!
- Smoked Salmon Benedict ($18) – poached eggs, smoked salmon & hollandaise on english muffins
A yummy looking dish which I didn’t get to try. Looked great!
- Special of the Day – Field Mushroom on Toast ($19.50)
Check out the size of the mushroom! This was my mum’s order and she was very satisfied with it! Very filling!
I was very full by the time I finish my bagel so I did not get to order the cakes that were on display at the counter. The Kaffir Lime Coconut Tart caught my eye but the stomach said no! Doh! I’ll have to come back another time for it! It was a great breakfast overall with a nice ambiance and friendly service!
