Jersey Jack Gelato, Como

Last weekend I was blessed to be invited to the launch of Jersey Jack, located on Preston Street in Como, right next to Hangout Bar & Cafe and Nasi Lemak Korner. Jersey Jack is a dessert cafe / ice cream parlour / coffee shop all in one! There is much excitement as another dessert parlor joins the ranks in Perth. Can’t wait to check out their gelato!

The space was modern, clean cut and welcoming. Cozy lounges front of shop and a Secret Garden outback with high chairs and tables. One can easily mistaken it for a bar! It was a hot and humid day, so we decided to lounge up front near the counter which I have to say was the best decision ever. I will tell you why in a minute!

Inside Jersey Jack

When we arrived, we were offered a glass of Champagne with a scoop of gelato plopped right in the middle of the glass. Bliss! Unfortunately this was a special treat at the launch party and not usually available during normal hours, maybe a petition is in hand to bring it in? 🙂

We proceeded to survey the counter and were met with countless of gelato and ice cream on display! Wowee! We were told to sample the flavors to our heart’s content. It was unfortunate that I just came from a high tea and was very full, otherwise I’ll be scoffing them in!

So many FLAVORS! There were Salted Caramel; Cookies & Cream; Chocolate; Lemon Lime Bitters; Vanilla; Coconut; Tiramisu; Pistachio; Champagne; Hazelnut; Rum n’ Raisin; Green Tea Red Bean; Black Sesame and SORBETS.. Lemon; Strawberry; Mango; Peach; Passion fruit; Lychee

Gelato galore

Gelato galore

Being the lover of Asian flavors, I checked out the Green Tea and Black Sesame gelato, and they were amazing. They were not too sweet and full of flavor, I envisage myself coming back often for them. I also tried the Coconut gelato which we were told is made up of four different types of coconut! The people at Jersey Jack really put the effort into getting the flavor right!

We also tried the Pistachio gelato which I liked too! Yummy!Pistachio ice cream

We wandered towards the Secret Garden and found a Fairy Floss and Brulee station in the way. Oh yeah! Production was ramping up for them! Unfortunately the Gelato Brulee is not in the permanent menu at Jersey Jack, another petition?

So you may be wondering now why did I say it was a great decision we didn’t stay outside the Secret Garden but went back front? Well, we were one of the first to be asked whether we like durian (who doesn’t?) and was then given a small bowl of Durian Soft Serve to try. I was in durian heaven, the soft serve tasted so good, it was almost like eating a real durian only creamier! The Durian Soft Serve is made from musang king, one of the better durian type. I immediately told my family and friends about this. Us durian lovers stick together! My mum and sis were so excited they tried it the next day and gave their stamp of approval!

I couldn’t resist a cup of coffee after all our ice cream tasting. The takeaway Long Black kept me up all night! It was very strong!

Jersey Jack also offers other sweet treats, I spied macarons, mini cakes, chocolates and tarts at the counter. Much more than meets the eye. I can’t wait to head back to get more of the gelato, very handy especially with the heatwave coming next week! Thanks to Jersey Jack for the hospitality! 🙂
