It is quite rare to find us in the city on the weekend as both hubby and myself travel to the CBD for work every weekday and we usually like to stay in the suburbs for the two days we are not working. One early Saturday morning though we found ourselves in the city and was quite lost on where we should go for breakfast as most of the cafes are closed! We found Pablo & Rusty’s thanks to trusty Zomato and decided to head there for breakkie. I like their coffee so I’m sure the food will be great too!
The cafe looked spacious from the outside with an alfresco sitting as well. We were lucky we went early as halfway through our meal we looked around and the cafe was full, and by the end of our meal there was a queue outside! Very popular!
I like cafes where they have a range of food (sandwiches, rolls, salads, pastries, desserts) at the counter as well as a proper menu. I decided to go for the Savory Breakfast Tart ($14) and an Almond Crossiant ($5) while the hubby ordered a dish from the menu. But first coffee!
The Flat White was $4 each and it was not a surprise that it tasted great! There is a cafe near my office which uses the beans and it is one of my go-to place for a caffeine hit!
My Breakfast Tart and Almond Croissant. The Breakfast Tart was predominantly corn and veggies. It was full of flavor and appetizing with a semi spicy sauce. I was quite full by the end of it but managed to fit in the Almond Croissant which was so worth it. It was so buttery with generous amount of almond paste on the inside. Yum!
The hubby had the Hot Chorizo & Pamplona pisto with soft boiled egg, zucchini blossoms, flamed pimentos, manzillas, haloumi on sourdough ($24) – gluten free and diary free. He was not a big fan and thought it was too much as a breakfast dish. I liked the flavors though, it was full of a wonderful combination of spices.
We didn’t linger too long after we finished our meal due to the crowd. The service was quick and friendly. I won’t mind coming back again for a meal. Just note a surcharge of 10% on the total bill for Saturdays!
