Lezat is a Malaysia and Indonesia fusion restaurant located within Rostrata Centre along Rostrata Avenue in Willetton. It came highly recommended from my mum’s friend who lives around the area! Onto the foodie list it goes. When my mum and I were in Willetton one weekend, we took the opportunity to visit Lezat for dinner!
The restaurant setup is simple, almost bare and quite small in size, but I was there just for the food so I can’t complain too much in this area. We arrived early on a Saturday night and it was still quiet. It became much busier when we left.
Good Morning Vietnam! As part of the Eat Drink Perth festival, Urban Bowl is introducing two traditional Vietnamese breakfasts to us Perthians, with one of the dish served on a sizzling plate!
Urban Bowl is located on Sherwood Court, off St Georges Terrace right next to the Exchange Plaza. Known for its fresh and clean Vietnamese food with a twist, I have been a frequent visitor of past to get my hands on their delicious rice paper rolls and Vietnamese salads. This time round I was keen to check out the two breakfast dishes created by Urban Bowl especially for Eat Drink Perth!
The talk of town this year for the Eat Drink Perth festival was surely the Night Noodle Market (NNM) held at the Perth Cultural Center! Eat Drink Perth 2015 opened with a bang last Wednesday with the Night Noodle Market, a family friendly Asian hawker style market set up over three areas, namely the Central Square, Museum Plaza and the Urban Orchard, housing over 20+ stalls and 3 popup bars. It was so exciting! I ended up going to this event three times over four days!
Bambamboo located within the 140 Perth building opened its door three weeks ago to the public, much to the delight of many in the foodie community. I am not sure whether it was the cuteness of the sign (Kungfu Panda much?) or the promise of delicious dumplings that did it, but there was a buzz surrounding its opening with much anticipation of sampling what Bambamboo has to offer evident from all the mentions on social media.
There has been a growing interest for Banh Mi as of late, with numerous cafe popping up in the city offering various versions of this yummy Vietnamese baguette. One such cafe is the quaint and charming Le Vietnam located on Barrack Street.
Gong Xi Fa Chai! Chinese New Year 2015 is fast approaching! In one and a half week to be exact! This year, I’m organising a festive meal at Szechwan Zen Chinese Restaurant on 22 Feb 2015 as part of a fundraiser for my church. The menu consists of the following:
Low Key Chow House (LKCH) is a restaurant serving modern Asian cuisine located on the busy Oxford Street in Leederville. I was intrigued when I first heard the restaurant’s name as it is so unusual, almost a tongue twister! When my friend from primary school wanted to catch up over dinner, I suggested for us to check out LKCH.
LKCH was crowded when I arrived but we managed to secure a table for two pretty much straightaway. The worry I had of queuing up dissipated! Yay! The restaurant was buzzing, cool ambiance on one hand but too noisy on the other. It was hard to hear each other clearly over the table. One of the reason was because we were seated too close together. Oh wells, at least we were able to get a table. Looking around, I noticed an eccentric and haphazard decor. I like it!
Happy New Year’s Eve! Thank you for your support for the PFEs in 2014! We hope to bring you more foodie updates in 2015 as we explore the ever expanding food scenes in our beautiful state of WA! I wish you all a happy and exciting new year, filled with lots of adventures and a year where your dreams will come true!
To end the year, here are some photos of the food/drinks I had at the opening of Papparich in Carousel and meeting Poh Ling from Masterchef! It was an exciting night!
Suzie’s Prata House opened this year in Morley, nestled along the eateries outside the Coventry Village Market and sharing the same location with the bubbletea store, Hi Tea. I’d found out about it while getting my bubbletea fix one day at Hi Tea and made a note to visit, anticipating some authentic mamak / hawker style cuisine.
The PFEs received an invitation recently from Merrick, owner of the Szechwan Zen Chinese Restaurant to check out their restaurant which had opened just 6 months ago. Specializing in Chinese food, Szechwan style, it is a style of food with spicy bold flavors resulting from the copious use of garlic and the unique Sichuan pepper in the dishes. The Szechwan flavors have not been that common in Perth but I have noticed a few restaurants popping up serving this cuisine in the city and Victoria Park over the last few months. I was happy to give it a go, fingers crossed that my tongue/taste bud can take the spiciness! I invited two of my close friends to join me, both of them great cooks themselves and lovers of spicy food!
The Szechwan Zen Chinese Restaurant is located inside the William Street square in Northbridge. It used to be Teochew Palace in days long past and after that Four Seasons Roasting Duck Restaurant. I did not know that Four Seasons had closed down until I received this invitation! Szechwan Zen had since renovated the restaurant and there’s a big crab sign out front, very hard not to miss!
