It is quite rare to find us in the city on the weekend as both hubby and myself travel to the CBD for work every weekday and we usually like to stay in the suburbs for the two days we are not working. One early Saturday morning though we found ourselves in the city and was quite lost on where we should go for breakfast as most of the cafes are closed! We found Pablo & Rusty’s thanks to trusty Zomato and decided to head there for breakkie. I like their coffee so I’m sure the food will be great too!
I first heard of Textbook Patisserie when Instagram was flooded with pictures of their Truffle Croissant, usually sold out quickly on the day they are available. No chance of me getting one, I can never wake up early enough! I started scrolling through their page and found they also create some pretty awesome desserts! My kind of place! While picking up our cousin one night from the airport, I realized it is located in very close proximity so it was the perfect spot to bring my mum for lunch when she landed here from Perth.
La Cantina is located on Atchison Street in St Leonards underneath the Air apartments and is in very close proximity to the train station. I had first noticed the cafe whilst walking around during lunch time at work. It looked so nice! When I had to go into work one Saturday, I dropped by to have a quick breakfast. It is always good to get a hearty meal before getting stuck in the office!
While surfing the internet one night for a good brunch spot, I found Left of Field (LoF) in Rhodes. I was heading to the Homebush DFO outlet the next day and LoF was on the way so it was the perfect spot to stop by for a nice brunch 🙂 Excited!
Left of Field is located on Gauthorpe Street underneath a block of apartments. There are still construction works happening around the area so parking was a bit of a problem. I found parking on the street a couple of blocks away.
Cafe Once Upon A Time is located on West Parade, opposite the West Ryde train station and in close proximity to Marketplace Centre where Woolies and Coles are situated. We were looking for a cafe nearby for brunch and decided to give the cafe a go. We parked at the Marketplace Centre (2 hours free parking) and ventured out to look for it. Not being too familiar with its location we ended up getting in through the back door. It was then that I realized what a huge cafe it is! Double storey with a decent sized alfresco dining area as well!
Coffee Traders is located within the Piazza Dining area on Level 1 of the Top Ryde Shopping Centre. There are approximately 19 restaurants in this area across the ground and first floor. I have only managed to check out a few of the restaurants here ever since arriving in Sydney, with the Red Spoon Thai being our most visited place for lunch (the hubby and his Thai cuisine :P).
Element 6 cafe located on Ryedale Road is probably one of the trendier cafe found in the suburb of West Ryde. Even though it is located on the quieter side of the train station (not the Woolies/Coles side), it seems to draw a regular crowd as evident in people queuing up for seats or takeaway coffee whenever we’d past the cafe. I’d been a couple of times, once during a weekday morning and another a weekend afternoon and it was buzzing with activity both times. A stark contrast to the neighboring businesses.
Oh gosh, it’s been a fair while since I last posted on the site! Work has been really hectic which took up most of my time the last month or so. It is only now settling back to normal. Time for a post 🙂
I’d been hitting up a number of Thai restaurants lately as the Hubby loves the cuisine. I must say the Thai cuisine here is much more advanced than Perth’s, also cheaper and a bit less formal. There are so many Thai cafes in the city! We’d been going to a different one every fortnight or so haha I’m going to be an expert in Thai food soon 😛 This post though is on a quick stopover brunch we had at Big Tree House in Rydalmere whilst we were still living in Eastwood.
It was the day before the New Year, it was hot, I had just arrived back to Perth and was down with the cold, it wasn’t a good time to cook but we needed to eat! I looked up a few cafes that I wanted to go to but they were all closed. Thank God for instagram at a time like this, one #perthcafe hashtag search and I found Pearth Organic Kitchen. Described as an organic cafe serving breakfast and lunch, it was right up my alley. I needed something healthy and simple, an organic cafe fitted right in!
Cocoa and Rose is a small quaint cafe located on Hay Street towards the East Perth end where Tiffin Room once stood. I had been recommended to check out the lunch at Tiffin Room for the longest time but did not get a chance until recently. By the time I visited though, it had been replaced by Cocoa and Rose. Nevertheless I went in for a quick lunch.
