Chocolateria San Churro has become our favorite place for dessert following lunch or dinner around the Cockburn Central area! We headed over there after yumcha at Dragon Palace Chinese Restaurant one afternoon looking for a caffeine hit! The San Churro here is another great outlet, everything was bright and cheery!

This year, my family and I decided to make the trip to Margaret River to attend the Gourmet Escape Festival. Unfortunately the decision was made a bit late and we found most of the accommodation in Margaret River were fully booked by the time we got round to searching for it! A sign of how popular the Gourmet Escape festival has become! We managed to book a chalet in Busselton instead which is about an hour’s drive from Margaret River. We headed down on the Saturday afternoon and arrived in Busselton just in time for dinner.

Divido is a casual yet chic Italian restaurant located on Scarborough Beach Road in Mount Hawthorn. I have heard the name mentioned over the years but have yet to try it until recently when I was looking for a place to dine to catch up with my ex-colleagues. She had wanted Italian cuisine so I grabbed the opportunity to suggest Divido.
Divido is a medium sized restaurant with stylish decor and an intimate setting. The warm lighting created a nice ambiance and we settled in quickly after a long days work.

I first heard of John St Cafe from my ex-colleague who told me of a nice little cafe they visited on the weekend for breakfast. Having not been to Cottesloe for awhile now I decided to pay the cafe a visit for breakfast with my parents one weekend.
John St Cafe is located in a residential street, off the main strip leading to the Cottesloe beach. The place was buzzing when I arrived and I got the last street parking right outside the cafe. Blessed me! The inside is airy and sunny, and has a nice laid back and beachy vibe to it, perfect for a hot summer’s day!
I (Miss L) am selling the Entertainment Book / Membership this year as a fundraiser for my church. 🙂 We support orphanages in the Phillipines and Thailand and money raised will be going there and also to our building fund. I was helping out in the orphanage last year located in San Isidro, a remote village along the rivers of Dolores. It was heartfelt hearing stories of how the children came to the orphanage, but very much encouraged by their strength and outlook in life after going through so much hardship!

Origins Restaurant in the Pan Pacific Hotel is one of my favorite spot for High Tea, having been there a couple of years back for their Christmas in July High Tea and really loved it. I found the menu carefully thought out with a range of different ingredients and not just the usual sandwiches and scones you see nowadays.
This time I was back to celebrate my birthday and it did not disappoint! Prices had gone up to $52pp (effective 1st April 2014), and includes complimentary sparkling wine throughout the afternoon. It used to be that you can choose between an alcoholic or non-alcoholic High Tea for a cheaper price but this option is no longer available.

Maharaja Indian Restaurant is located on Stirling Highway in Nedlands. We picked this place for my second farewell lunch at the company I was seconded to, the first lunch at Royal Seafood Restaurant for dimsum. Quite spoilt 🙂
Maharaja looked quite grand with its golden furnishing and antique style decor, and comfortable seats. We were offered complimentary Papadum after we sat down. They were very crispy and welcoming to our hungry stomachs!

I woke up one morning to an invitation to lunch in Wanneroo, at a cafe called Elixir. What is this place I thought? Wanneroo is so far away! Is it worth the drive? My friend proceeded to list all the good reviews, high rating and praises she had heard about this cafe to convince me. Never one to refuse good food, I obliged.
Cafe Elixir is located at the new Library and Cultural Centre in the heart of the Wanneroo town centre, just off Wanneroo Road. Luckily my friend was driving, otherwise I would have gotten hopelessly loss (North suburbs are not my forte!). On arrival, I found that the place was already packed! Great sign! The cafe had a homely feel which I liked.

Taylors Art & Coffee House is located on Great Northern Highway in the iconic Swan Valley region. We dropped by for lunch on the way home from Bindoon last weekend. It was Father’s Day that day so the cafe was quite packed. We asked whether we could use the entertainment book voucher as it was a special day and they said yes! Bonus!
I love the rustic outlook of the cafe! It has a huge outback area for dining with a sandpit for the kids to play in. Perfect setting for families with children! I noticed that dogs were allowed in as well.
Entertainment Voucher 13/14: One complimentary hotdog when another hotdog of equal or greater value is purchased
I have heard of great reviews of Run Amuck from friends for awhile now but haven’t had a chance to get there yet. When a friend volunteered me to do a postgrad survey in Palmyra, we decided to go further down to try the much talked about hotdogs!
Run Amuck is located on the quieter end of South Terrace which was a bonus to me as we got parking easily on the street. The place is small and I was surprised that it had proper chairs and tables (I was expecting a stand up cramped joint). It was a good surprise! The American theme is running for this month of July so the place is decorated with American flags, Statue of Liberty poster and all things American.
We chose the following dogs:
- Rukus ($13) with two chilies – it consisted of premium bratwurst, chili and lime sambal, crispy proscuitto, spinach, aged cheddar, sour cream & jalapenos
- Mischief ($12) with one chili – it consisted of premium bratwurst, tomato relish, guacamole, aged cheddar, baby spinach, tortilla chips, jalapenos and sour cream
The Mischief was my order and it was huge! It tasted quite nice but not as good as what I expected. I think I may have expected something wow due to the rave reviews I’d heard from others. I thought the spinach didn’t go well with the dog and also would have liked the cheese to be melted. The tortilla chips though was a nice touch (love all things crunchy) and the locally made bratwurst was tasty.
We also ordered the Run Amuck Homemade Coleslaw ($3) as a side and that was delicious. I was told later that I should have ordered the Rascal which has the coleslaw on it which would have tasted amazing. Hmm I can imagine. Doh!
The service at Run Amuck was excellent with the staff being as helpful as ever with our queries and the follow up when we received the food. Thanks for the great service!
