The Craftsman Bar and Brasserie is located at Carousel Shopping Centre next to Han’s Cafe and opposite Zushi Bento / Fast Eddy’s. It’s a big establishment, one can’t miss it if one enter Carousel through this entrance, the most common way to get to Hoyts cinema. I pass the Craftsman countless times whenever I shop at Carousel or catch a movie at Hoyts but have never thought of dining here before. From the outside it seems to me just a bar where people drink and have finger food. When I was invited recently to check out the place, I was surprised to find a dedicated restaurant inside with a notable difference in ambiance to the outside! Silly me for forming an impression even before venturing further in. The menu is a modern Australian fare with a few ‘classic’ pub items thrown in as well. A great start to the discovery of this place!
Happy New Year’s Eve! Thank you for your support for the PFEs in 2014! We hope to bring you more foodie updates in 2015 as we explore the ever expanding food scenes in our beautiful state of WA! I wish you all a happy and exciting new year, filled with lots of adventures and a year where your dreams will come true!
To end the year, here are some photos of the food/drinks I had at the opening of Papparich in Carousel and meeting Poh Ling from Masterchef! It was an exciting night!
Han’s Cafe is a successful Asian restaurant franchise that started in 1995 and seemed to have multiplied quite numerously over the years (I think there are about 14 Han’s Cafes nowadays). I’d been to about half a dozen or so throughout the years which included the ones in Northbridge, Perth, Belmont, Claremont, Mandurah and Willetton. For this review, we ate at the restaurant in Cannington (inside the Carousel shopping centre) whilst waiting to watch Transformer later on the night. (Ironically though, we didn’t end up watching the movie that night as the tickets sold out by the time we finished dinner! Boo!!)
Entertainment Card 09/10: 25% off (up to a value of $27)
Roman Palace Italian Restaurant is located along Manning Road in Cannington (towards the Carousel Shopping Centre end). I have driven past it a number of times and the bright green glaring sign has always caught my attention. When my friend organised a surprise birthday dinner there one night, it gave me a chance to try out the food and see what the inside is actually like.
Happy Chinese New Year (CNY)! This week is the start of the festive season for the Chinese which goes on for 15 days, where there will be numerous feasting, house visitations and merriment in general. Kids are especially happy during these times as they will be getting angpow (red packet with $) from their elders *wahoo*.
