Last weekend I was blessed to be invited to the launch of Jersey Jack, located on Preston Street in Como, right next to Hangout Bar & Cafe and Nasi Lemak Korner. Jersey Jack is a dessert cafe / ice cream parlour / coffee shop all in one! There is much excitement as another dessert parlor joins the ranks in Perth. Can’t wait to check out their gelato!

Taylors Art & Coffee House is located on Great Northern Highway in the iconic Swan Valley region. We dropped by for lunch on the way home from Bindoon last weekend. It was Father’s Day that day so the cafe was quite packed. We asked whether we could use the entertainment book voucher as it was a special day and they said yes! Bonus!
I love the rustic outlook of the cafe! It has a huge outback area for dining with a sandpit for the kids to play in. Perfect setting for families with children! I noticed that dogs were allowed in as well.

Hang Out Bar n Cafe is located on Preston Street in Como where Just Wine and Tapas Bar used to be. I was surprised Just W&T had closed down as they used to serve good food and drinks at reasonable prices! Oh wells, the Hang Out Bar n Cafe looked like a good replacement but with a more casual ambience in comparison. It came recommended by friends living in the area.
***Restaurant permanently closed…replaced by Hang Out Bar and Cafe***

Just Wine and Tapas Bar is located on Preston Street in Como right next to the Cygnet Cinema. Our main aim that night was to attend a Women In Engineering (WIE) movie function in Cygnet Cinema – the premiere of “Eat, Love, Pray” and decided to find a joint in Como to catch-up over dinner beforehand. Looking through the Entertainment Book, we found this restaurant offering a sumptuous tapas-style degustation menu of 11 tapas for only $50pp! Taking the discount into account, it was only $37.50pp, what a great deal! We all agreed in one accord. A note – they also offer an 18 tapas option which includes some dessert for $70pp. As we only had an hour period for dinner, we did not go for the bigger menu.

The Como is located along Canning Highway, inside The Como Hotel. It is quite a prominent building, painted bluish purple on the outside, with a bright purple and lime sign in front – hard to miss. The Como has a retro feel to it, but casual and cosy, you can almost feel the gentle humming of pleasantries in the atmosphere as soon as you enter. It was cold that afternoon and I was not in the best of mood as I forgot my jumper and had a slight headache, so when I went in and was greeted with a nice warm heater up the front, I was a happy chappy. One thing I like about their decor was the cushiony lime coloured sofa seats they had vs the average looking brown ones. We quickly went and grabbed a table with the lime seats (one must be seated comfortably to enjoy one’s lunch =p).
